Hi Everyone,

When I print phone cases I seem to get what looks like water residue marks all over the phone case after taking them out of the oven. A couple of people have said that just standard for sublimation but surly there must be away to avoid this?

Im using the Richo 3110DN
3D Sublimation Heat Press Oven
TruePix Paper

Thanks in advance

I don't do the all over phone covers, but I do sublimate mugs, tiles and the metal phone cover inserts and I never have a water residue look. Do you have this problem on other substrates? Also, what 3d oven do you have?

I print mugs and don't seem to get the issue. I use a heat press 3d sublimation oven. (Cheap Chinese oven)

That seems to point to the plastic covers as the problem. Can you use a backing sheet of plain paper over the transfer to wick up some of the extra moisture? I do that will all of my transfers, but I don't know if that works with the phone covers.

Is it the red oven you always see on eBay? I've read mixed reviews on those, but it seems like you've got yours working well (other than the spots!).

When you say backing sheet do you mean like baking paper oven the transfer paper?

Yeah mine seems to be spot on apart from these bloody marks and it's really stopping me from sending the cases out.

I'm guessing it's either the paper (unlikely) or the spots are already on the case. I'm sure you have, but have you put the case in light and see if you notice faint spots prior to putting in the oven?

Also, do your cases come with a protective film over them that you remove prior to putting in the oven?.... This could cause the issue as well.

mcpix I will give that a go tomorrow and update you.

walkingzombie I cant see any on the cases before and there isnt any film on the cases. Could it be temp?
What temp and time are you using?

If you're using the chinese oven I think you're using, it should be 380-385 degrees Fahrenheit @ 8.5-9.0 minutes.

Too much temp is a possibility but I can't see how, unless you're cooking it at 400+ degrees (F) for 15+ minutes. Could also be a cheap polymer coating??
