all of the colors mix in the waste ink container ive made, and it all appears black. its all the same type of ink as well...(textile ink).

would it be safe to reuse it as a refill for the black ink?

Nope. In the end you would save a few bucks on ink, but lose hundreds of dollars buying a new print head.

If you filter it then yes, but I really don't like the idea.

You can and I have. i only use it in a printer that I do NOT print portraits on. (color profile problems if you do) If you use it in a printer for printing, say negatives, it will work. You first have to filter it through a coffee filter a couple of times then mix it with pure black at a 50/50 ratio. Keep in mind i did this with an Epson printer though so I don't know if it will run through another. That's what i used to do. I use it a lot of other ways as well. I have tie dyed shirts, dyed wood and leather etc...Hope this helps.
