Want to Design Shirts Using Customer Photo

1125 Views 11 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  MeTee
I want to start a tee shirt biz where I take an uploaded picture from my customer and alter it. The resulting altered image will be placed on a shirt. Each shirt will be unique with the exeption of my company logo. Although the fullfillment services can do this, I won't be able to add sparkles or other custom elements before it goes out to the customer. I don't want to be the printer. How can I do this less expensively? Very long winded, sorry.

are you saying after the person uploads the art and you alter it and upload it to a fulfillment site...
then you wan't the shirt back to add sparkles etc? Then you mail the shirt to the person?
Yes that's about right.

That sounds like an interesting idea, but I don't know if I'd want to pay for personalized t-shirts with my pictures and then have someone print their own logo on that same shirt.

Maybe you should just have a hangtag or a custom neck label made instead.
The logo is a part of the design and indicative of the art I produce. The integration of logo and art work is hopefully what will constitue "my brand". Hopefully this flys. I've had some positve responses from people I've given shirts to wear. However, I can't really move forward on a larger scale without finding a cost effective way of producing these one-offs without going into the printing business myself.

I'm in the Indianapolis area. Is there a way a way to do this in a cost effective manner?

Thanks.
Could you post a pic of one of your shirts? I'd like to see..
What do you use to produce them now?
How about a DTG operator in your area? they can produce excellent work and cost effective with a quality product.....and as a side note..like another poster...I would not pay for a shirt that had a company logo as part of the design...hang tag or label it
Right now I have been using CP to make them and by "them" I mean 5. I've given them to local friends, so I add stuff to it and hand it over.

I've looked a little on line for local DTG printers in my area but so far it looks like I have to order in quantity or pay lots for a one off. I'll keep looking. Has anyone had an arrangement in which they used a local DTG printer to produce a one off for a reasonable price? Is this cost effective for the printer?

Thanks all for helping me think this out.

You could put an add in the Referrals and Recommendations part of the forums.

Over there folks can recommend a DTG printer in your area, or offer their own services if they provide it. Maybe that will help you find someone to work with. Good luck.....
That's a great idea. Thank you.
