Does anyone use the wacom cintiq 12wx to do digitizing? Looks like it would be a good investment.

Like that you could import .jpg's and basically trace in the design right on the screen with the stylus.

Or does anyone use any Wacom tablet to do digitizing? My friend uses one to do vector art and said there was a learning curve that he had to get used to. But he's a lot faster now that he's gotten the hang of it.

You can do the same with an Intuos4, just you are not using the pen directly on the screen.

The Intuos5 is out now Intuos5 touch Medium Pen Tablet | Wacom Americas so you may be able to get a 4 at a discounted rate.

YES, there is a small learning curve, others have suggested to me that I should hide my mouse and force myself top do everything with the tablet.
After a couple of weeks I should find myself comfortable with it and not need to use a mouse anymore.

I did consider a 12WX for digitizing and graphics at one time, but ended up getting a Wacom Intuos4 Medium instead.

Cost was the decider in the end, $300 compared to around $1200 (here in Aust).

I am happy with my decision.

I use Wilcom for my digitizing software.
