Someone please help, I don't want to kill my K3, I love my K3. We've been together for 4 years and everything has been fine until..... constant purging forced me to give it a labotomy and convert it to a 1800 with C5 Rip. Good for a while, then it suddenly started acting erratic, jerky belt movement, spitting out the platen randomly, stalling half way through a print and finally now not even able to perform a nozzle check. read many posts, checked encoder wheel, sensor, platens do not seem warped. Can anyone suggest something else, beside pulling the trigger? Thanks in advance.

Im not familiar with the raster sensor of the ribbon cable (strip) Would replacing the ribbon cable also replace the sensor or is this a separate piece of hardware? The K3 managed to print a nozzle check today (sort of) It appears in the attached pic that the belt just kept moving fwd as it printed......?

Yes this is what I'm thinking, one more question though, when I first started having major purging issues with the K3 (1900), I was told that the recommended conversion was to the 1800, how new is the 2000? because I just sent this to my distributor to get fixed last year. other than a bigger number is the 2000 any better? Do I just need new drivers or do I have to change everything else? I'll do whatever works best dont care about the cost just need to get this thing printing. Thanks for any info.

You will need to keep the mainboard from your current kiosk.

R2000 and R1900 are differes only in mainboard.

The cause of the reseting system on kiosk to do frequent head cleans and looped reseting is when something is out of sync, and this may be lot of things - disrty or unporperly attached capping station, or deterioataion of mechanical parts.

Putting a new printer inside gives you new every epson part thus helping the issue.

The plus of 1800 is that it will it will newer trigger headcleans, because of it olds reseting system, the downfall is that it is a bit slower.

Ok I see, my distributor informed me the the R2000 conversion is basically a DIY conversion. Guess since the R1800 conversion is the official, I won't even consider the R2000. This leaves with the same problem of trying to get the K3 with the R1800 to work or trying to trade it in for something that will. So many problems with the K3....
