Hello everyone, my employer has decided to jump right into the DTG market blindly and I'm the guy in charge of learning how to do it . We have an mp10i printer and a Viper xpt6000 pretreater. I am getting pretty terrible print quality. Nothing remotely close to the sample prints at the tradeshow. I am trying to figure out printing on dark garments. I am using anajets own PT solution which requires a 50/50 mix of distilled water to solution. I have tried a variety of fluid laydown settings on the viper, anywhere from 50g to 80g. all with similar results. Does the viper mix the solution internally on its own ? am I only further diluting it by mixing it myself?

Any and all input/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I suppose explaining what I mean by poor print quality would help...For dark shirts, using content based white underbase with some tweaks to contrast, brightness etc: White ink does not seem vibrant, looks faded and somewhat blotchy. Color layers are equally dull and blotchy.

Greetings

Congrats in jumping in feet first..... and take a deep breath.

When you say 50-80 grams... is that actual weight or the FLUID LAYDOWN setting on the Viper? If that is the setting on the Viper that IS NOT grams. You need to reference the chart for lay down values. a 65 setting is about 30 grams (roughly half of what's displayed for LAYDOWN VALUE).

If it truly is 50-80 grams.... WOW.... you're going to have issues, but on washability.

Mixing: The Viper XPT DOES NOT mix internally. That is up to you prior to putting PT through the machine.

Plus, you need to ensure you have the correct amount of PT laid down or you'll have wash ability issues.

Make sure to use distilled water in diluting your Anajet PT. Otherwise, you can destroy the chemistry.

That's a good start. You can also try Image Armor. That will help your prints incredibly (yes, we manufacture that too, but doing a full disclaimer here so there's no misleadings).

Also, ensure you flush your Viper XPT daily and take the tips out and clean them after use. Other PTs are very aggressive and will cause tip issues if you don't take care of them.

Do you recommend 65 setting with image armor?

Hi Everyone

To achieve the same looking white you see on our samples and our trade shows, I suggest first looking at your garment. We use 100% Ringspun cotton. We like the brand Spectra but it works just the same as a Hanes Nano

With the AnaJet pretreatment:
Instead of 50/50
Use 60-65 % pretreatment and the rest with DISTILLED water. Brian is correct. It makes a huge difference. Even Filtered water messes the chemistry up.

We also add a few cap fulls of white distilled vinegar to our pretreat mix. If you are doing a large batch. 5-7 capfuls should do it

We have a XPT at AnaJet. (Newly refurbished thanks to Brian) after .. what was it Brian? 44k worth on the counter?

From what I recall 45 should be fine as long as your nozzles are well maintained.

And yes the AnaJet does print well on top of Image Armor

Just remember that the difference between the two is that Image Armor needs to be heat pressed immediately (all saturated areas) while the AnaJet pretreatment works better after it has been line dried in the sun or run through a tunnel dryer.

Brian, it's been a while! Will I see you in Indy?
