Viper - Colour alignment issues

Hey guys,

Still trying to learn about my new printer (DTG Viper)...

Currently I'm trying to print the exact same design twice to a dual platen. White underbase then a small colour section on top.

The colour section isn't lining up, which I would guess is a head alignment issue, except that on the top shirt the alignment is to far right, and the bottom shirt, it is too far left.

Here is a pic:

The only thing I can guess is that the platen is twisting as it goes through so that compared to the white print, the colour print is on a slight angle...

Any ideas, hints, suggestions, general information would be a huge help.

Thanks,
Ian

i ran into this issue also, the second platen is worse than the first when printing two at a time. Printing unidirectionally takes a bit longer, but seems to reduce this issue
Have you tried doing the Head Alignment.
section 6.6 of the viper manual.
well now I'm at a job where this issue is slowing me down considerably. it seems like the color run on the second platen is just a bit off....
Things to check.

1- Bi D alignment
2- Platen gap height
3- The platen itself, is must be straight and level

well maybe a description of my solution will help define the problem...
When I print two identical shirts at a time, the white pass prints, no problem.
The color pass prints on the first shirt, no problem, it lines up perfect.
Before it prints the second shirt, I have to pause the print job and pull the platen back about 1/16th of an inch. I've gotten really good at manually aligning the second run but this has a lot of room for error.
hi there

is it only MY problem, or the user manual doesn't have this section 6.6??

Instead, it says that we shouldn't at all do this head alignment procedure...

tks

Please follow the instructions carefully, incorrect allignment procedures can result in Bi-D print looking worse. I strongly recommend that you speak with your technical representative first

Have you checked that Uni directional prints are OK?

i've just downloaded the v2.0 manual at ColDesi's site, but section 6.6 is still missing.

but never mind, I wouldn't risk doing it one way or another... I only got curious about it.

We had a similar problem that we have addressed with the "Choke & Feed" utility in Rip Pro v4. When we first noticed it, it was happening universally though on both platens. Just wanted to drop it in as an idea.
