I'm looking for a vinyl cutter for detail-oriented work. My application is negative work. I'm lightly blasting away a thin coated layer on ceramic to leave behind a design via adhesive vinyl pieces. So I need a fairly accurate vinyl cutter that can accept digital input (e.g. Photoshop and/or Illustrator) but the size does not need to be large since the designs are small (8" is more than enough). Given the digital input, contour etc is not needed.

I was looking at US Cutters, since Rolands appear to be a bit overpriced, but I'm open to used/ebay if there is a quality cutter to be had out there. Any suggestions? I've looked at the previous threads here, but none of them seem to address how accurate a cutter is.

From what you have described it sounds like what you really need is a laser etching machine…they can be very expensive.
I have used the Roland cutters to do very detailed designs using a 60 degree blade. I have also use this cutter cutting sign material then applying it to glass and using a etching past to etch the glass, worked fine. If you are blasting you will need to use a thicker material that will hold up long enough for you to blast the design in the surface, before it falls apart.

If you are going to be using a Badger 260-1 any vinyl will do we use Oracal and the US Cutter will do fine.

If you are using an industrial sandblaster or bead blaster you'll need to use something thicker like Hartco's Glass 310 series 10 mill and will need a better vinyl cutter than a US Cutter, it also harder to cut details the thicker the material is.
