Value some feedback

Hey guys,

Recently launched my adult label Chapter 11 Apparel after starting out with kids tees. Just went for a simple site that shows some pics of my gear. Would appreciate any feedback you might have about my site/tees/boards...

Hi. Your site is painfully slow loading. There are no close ups of the tees, no information on them and no obvious way to buy one.

Not quite sure what you are expecting to achieve from this site??
Hey, do you mean the photos are slow to load?... i've tried it on a few different computers and they loaded fairly quickly... what connection speed do you have? Your right, I should get some better close ups of the tees... The site is mainly there as a 'showroom' for my products until i can afford to get a shopping cart put in... Thanks for your time and thoughts my man!
Definitely get some close ups of your products....I can only make out the design on one of the tees. Pics loaded fairly quickly for me but some of them did get a bit hung up for a few seconds. Descriptions would be helpful as well as prices. I understand this is just a "showcase" until you get your cart set up but the more info available, the more likely people are to spend more time on your site.

Agreed. I'm not sure I've ever experienced such a slow-loading apparel site. Every single picture took forever to load. I have a high-speed connection. Definitely look into this issue because I think you would lose cusomers quickly due to this issue.

Other than that, it's really hard to see the shirts in the pics!
Is your server in Australia (maybe even Melbourne) by any chance? It loaded insanely fast for me (I actually forgot websites can be that fast), but would explain why it's slow for everyone else but fast for you/me.
Hey Lewis, yeah i signed up with SmartyHost due to their competitive prices and yes they are based in Melbourne. I wasn't aware that using a local server would affect downloading time overseas... So that would mean that accessing a website in the same area the server is based will result in a faster download time? But how come when we (all the way down here in Melbourne) access an American or European site it isn't painfully slow to download...?

Of course. Data is physical, in the form of electrical pulses. That takes time to travel between two points, the closer those points are, the quicker it's going to be. On top of that, the more jumps you make, the more chances of bottle necks between the points. The internet is based on physics, not magic.

I'm guessing you haven't been using the internet for very long. This century things have evened out considerably, but in the 90s server location could make a massive difference to speed.

But how come when we (all the way down here in Melbourne) access an American or European site it isn't painfully slow to download...?
Perception of speed is relative. If you're used to loading a page instantly, even a one second delay per page could be seen as painfully slow. But ignorance is bliss; we simply don't know any better.

...until I jump onto an Australian server (rarely happens) and remember what things should be like in an ideal world :)

It did load really slow for me also :) I am estimating probably 5 or more seconds per page, which today is considered slow :)

I would definately add some close ups and more info. people want as much information as fast as they can get when shopping online.
I kinda liked the idea that the 'internet' was run on magic... ahh well that's a shame i guess next you'll tell me that David Blaine can't really fly...
It did load slowly for me as well.

I would agree you need better pictures of the designs and larger ones. Even as just a showcase, it doesn't really allow you to see what it is you might want to buy at a later date.

Also, as a side note, the links on your "something for the kids" page don't work. Are they meant to work?
