I would like to print automotive pearls on a finely sanded and sealed wood substrate using a clear base. I have had some success exposing my own screens and built a jig to hold my screens when printing. My goal is to apply a white pigment or black dye base onto a wood substrate using an automotive spray gun, then apply pearl to the outside edges using an automotive spray gun and pearl suspended in a sanding sealer. The sanding sealer leaves a matte, porous finish. Then, suspend some automotive pearl in a clear screen printing base and screen print that (my logo) onto the center of the wood substrate. The effect i'm looking for is a pearl fade out from the edges to the center and then a color matched logo in the center.
I am not finding much about clear base and what they are for and am pretty new to the screen printing process.
In short, I would like to know if there is a way to suspend an automotive pearl in a clear base that can be printed onto a wood substrate. The pearl i'm talking about comes as a fine powder of 5-40 microns. I don't know what screen size to use either. the design I'll be printing is not very intricate or lacy.
This is not a usual process for screen printing and i hope somebody takes an interest in this thread.
thanks a bunch for any ideas you might have
