Uneven transfer on heat press

760 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Amw
I was using a heat press to transfer from sublimation transfer paper onto canvas tote bags. The first three came out quite well, no issues. However, the fourth one suddenly had uneven transfer for the upper half of the print.

Attached here is a photo.

As you can see, the transfer is quite solid on the extreme right side, but majority of the left side is so uneven. It's almost like the transfer paper wrinkled up for some reason. What caused this uneven/faded transfer?

The other half (not shown in the pic) transferred properly with the same solid blue of the extreme right side of the pic.

What happened on the 5th transfer?
There's no fifth yet because I stopped. Hehe. I was worried it might happen again and waste another good tote bag. :p

Any idea on how the transfer turned out that way?

You should keep using the one that was ruined. You just use a different area of the bag. If need be cut the bag open or turn it inside out. That way you dont waste so much. Once you have it working right then grab a new bag.

Make sure you have even heat and pressure.

What kind of press is this?
