Understanding JPSS

I’m just trying to understand what JPSS is. From my understanding, it’s a type of inkjet paper?

I’m trying to look ahead for smaller jobs like 1-3 shirts that someone might want. I have quite a few friends who run in 5k’s and are asking about shirts being made for their team. Obviously getting 25+ screen print transfers made would be a waste.

So I’m looking into getting a workforce printer with a CIS. Just wanted to understand my options for such occasions.

Are these JPSS only able to pressed on light garments? Is there an inkjet paper for dark garments?

Jen. Yes, JPSS is for light colors. There is inkjet paper for dark garments but keep in mind that you will be printing on an opaque white background that will appear outside of the printed area unless you trim around the design or color that area with the same color as the shirt.

Thanks Ed, while reading through some posts, I found the answers. Opaque is for darks and must be trimmed very neatly or white will show...JPSS is for light colors where trimming doesn't have to be as detailed as opaque.

JPSS is printed backwards correct and Opaque is printed normal front facing. Only thing that is needed for Opaque is a teflon sheet to protect the press from ink while it's pressed?

I don't mean to sound ignorant, just trying to understand all the different options and terminology.
You are correct on all points. Good idea to get some samples before you dive in to production.

It's always nice to see someone who has obviously done her homework! Good luck.

[Or his homework. Was going on the word "Jen".]
