I'm building a community website where -
  • Designers upload tshirt designs
  • Members vote on designs
  • Printer chooses best rated designs & sells them
What is the best name for this site?
  • TshirtTalent.com
  • TshirtChallenge.com

How about Tshirt Idol ! :)
Good input, Limey16
TshirtIdol.com IS an available domain (at the time of this writing)

however, I'm good with a clean decision between TshirtTalent and TshirtChallenge. I'd like a few more votes amongst peers to tally a good perspective. Thus far the Talent's have it.

So the question is, are you a Talent-man or a Challenge-man?

You're about 2 years to late

This model has been done countless times and there are tons of these contest sites fighting over customers and designers. If you're not planning on bringing something new to the table I would say cut your loses and stop now.

I have seen two new contest sites that have done something new.
Tee fury is a little like shirt woot but the artists retains their rights to the design.
Desired hearts gives money to charity.

You're absolutely right. TeeFury and DesiredHearts are doing some interesting things.

re: TeeFury, with their 'only 1 tee design for sale in the entire store at a time' thing, I imagine they must start each day burning screens and just printing to order. Very interesting. & the name "TeeFury" is fitting. Coolness.

re: DesiredHearts, how can you think bad of guys that donate to charity? I like positive people. I'm thinking they must be somewhat new, as thus far they've given $44 to charity. I hope they do well. Nice designs too.

Thanks for sharing the 2 links ;)

I too think that Talent would be better then Challenge as most designers want to look at what they do as a talent. I know I think that way :)

I vote for Tshirt Talent.com

Out of curiosity - how does the designer get paid/ benefit from this?
Wow, overwhelming votes for the TshirtTalent's.
Go Talents
Interestingly, friends & family say the same

re: compensation for the designers, (and this is subject to change as the project comes together) - at this point we are considering $5 per shirt, up to $1000, paid monthly. Minimum runs of 50 tees per design. With enough reprint requests from unique ip's, the design gets reprinted and continues to earn max compensation.

I agree. TShirtTalent, just sounds positive all the way around. Are you having challenges on specific design categories or contests on a monthly basis or something else? Any idea yet? Good luck. I like the idea.
Thanks VectorKing
Yes, thinking about two categories of submissions:
  • Monthly Themed Challenges
  • Freestyle anytime, anything-goes submissions
