Troubleshooting Tajima TEHX C1501

My Tajima TEHX C1501 embroidery machine stopped moving side to side in the middle of a design. I traced the design first and it was fine but once it started to stitch, part way through the design it started to grind and then it would only move forwards and backwards. I cleared the memory on the machine and loaded a new design and it did the same thing. Any suggestions or do I need a new driver? :(
