Trouble Printing Vector Graphics via Scribus

Hello.

This is my first post here even though I have been reading for a while. I have not yet found a solution to my following problem but apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

My set up is Hotronix and Hix heatpresses, JJPS transfer paper, Epson 415 and I'm currently using Inkscape for my vector artwork.

All was going well until I tried to print onto plain A4 paper, one of my Inkscape SVG files.

Upon my following research I decided to download Scribus to open up my SVG artwork and print from there. However it does not like dealing with blurred lines and changes them back to the original defined line which negatively alters much of my work. It does however show gradients, which is one good thing.

I read somewhere that exporting files into bitmap/png will keep onto any special effects applied. Scribus however will not open these png files.

In short - any advice on how to best print my vector artwork from Inkscape without undoing a lot of my hardwork would be gladly received and much appreciated.

Many thanks,

TW

what about a pdf file?
Hi John, thanks for your response.

It's hit and miss with the pdfs. Some of them show nothing but a black page (yes, black not blank!). Others won't open at all and some of the basic designs will open.

Hmm.

I know people are trying to save money and I'm all for that but in my book if I am spending so much time with "free" software that is hit or miss to the point I am losing time making money then I am not really saving that much. I don't know what you value your time at per hour but I'll use an example. Let's say you have 2 hrs per weeks wasted fighting with "free" software. That's 100 hrs over the course of a year. If you value your time at $10/hr (I value mine at more than that) you have lost $1,000 through that year. If you had spent $700 or $800 on a graphics program that at the start of that year you would be ahead $200-$300.

I am not saying there is some good open source software out there. The open source software I have experimented with usually doesn't perform as well as similar software I invest in for my business.
Thanks for that but that but I am only asking for advice in relation to my question.

I am in the very early stages of starting out and don't have the money for expensive software just now. If and when I make some profit I can look to purchasing software but what I do have is time so right now I am looking to speak with someone who has experience with this issue.
I have found a solution that seems to be working well for now.

Instead of Scribus I am using OpenOffice to print bitmap files (300dpi). So far it is a success and all the above issues have disappeared.

If anyone of experience knows of a more proper solution, it would still be good to learn from you.

Cheers.
