[new to pressing]

I just received my 1620 heat press, when I got it out of the box it was almost impossible to open the press. After struggling with light pressure, I put it on the floor stood on the base and yanked up with heavy force and it did open. However now the press will not close, I seem to only be able to increase the pressure and not decrease pressure. how do I decrease pressure so that I can close and use my heat press. any info would be appreciated
