First post! And first experiences!

Hi guys,

I've been experimenting with my new Heat Press, and I love it... There's a LOT I had to learn on my own based on the machine I have and the 1000 precautions I need to take before attempting anything.

One issue I had was the transparent paper that came with my Low Temp Forever Laser Dark (No Cut) I realized it was much better to do 2-3 printer passes so there's enough toner that catches the material... The issue is, I have no more transparent paper and I figured I can't use the regular staples transparent paper since there's no matte coating on it. I have a lot of Low Temp B sheets left and I want to do more prints, any transparent paper/plastic letter/tabloid sheets you guys recommend that might be available fast? It took 2 weeks to get my stuff last time and I have a project due for this weekend...

Thanks a lot for your inputs! I'm excited on making my designs wearable!

Blick Art Supply sells Write-on transparency called Dry Lam. I believe it is coated because it is writeable. Laser printer and copier compatible. I tried Duralar transparency, from Blick Art Supply as A sheet for Imageclip Laser Light before. It sorta worked. I can't remember if I hot or cold peel. Duralar had the highest flash point. According to the info below it is heat resistant up to 200C. Be careful using transparency. It will melt on the shirt if temp is too high.

Drafting transparency with matte finish.

Read the brochure for Dry Lam: http://www.drylam.com/docs/literature/transparency_film.pdf?sfvrsn=2

Make sure to test the melting point on scrap shirt. Cut a pieces, lay one piece at a time on the shirt, cover it with parchment paper then press with different temps.

Signwarehouse sells just the A sheet of Uninet self weeding 2 step laser dark transfer.

Please let us know what worked for you.

Instead of printing 2-3 passes, which is subject to registration issue, convert the image to RGB color halftone. Duplicate the layer. Select the top layer. In the layers dialog box drop down menu where it says Normal click the option button. Click Overlay. That will increase the intensity. To reduce it change the fill value, in the layers dialog box, of the top layer between 25% and 100%. You can also use Multiply instead of overlay. But it will darken the image.
