Im going to trademark my name and logo but I'm curious whether to trademark the LLC as part of it or not. For example, if a business name was Smith LLC, but just went by Smith usually which version of the name would be trademarked?

You should trademark the brand name (Smith), not the business name (Smith LLC).

When you register your business with your state, that will protect the LLC name. The purpose of the trademark registration is to protect the name consumers will use to identify your product (ie. the name you will use on labels, tags, marketing, website, etc.)
