I think he is talking about plastisol transfers, and perhaps some companies that offer printed transfers don't do.. or its harder to produce a good transfer that will work good for others... I don't know if I've ever seen one done, ... that are halftone-blend screenprints (what people refer to as simulated process etc).

I think with perfect interlocked halftone techniques and full coverage, perhaps some trapping for more ink, it would be possible with transfers to do good blending work. I will have to experiment on that. Same with colors that fade into shirts... with good base and choked dots that stuff should work on a transfer as well but I really don't know all of the critical variables of why/when a transfer company would not do halftone work.

Overall I think this is the problem the poster is facing -- working with a transfer printer and having an rgb full-color design.

If we speak about transfer, a full CMYK digital transfer, is easy to make.

The design is print from a laser copier on a treated silicon paper, then we screenprint a waterbased or plastisol backing on all the toner.

Et voilà, you have a nice transfer that can be use on any color.
