Where is it twisting and breaking? Some thread is wound better than others. I use Isacord and it's great. I have Marathon and it twists like crazy and when you cut it it nearly always unravels and twists around. Same with metro thread. Madeira is ok too.

So where is it twisting and breaking and what kind of thread is it?

Wow, that's an odd place to twist up. Usually that's under so much pressure and tension that it won't twist there. So under regular sewing it will just twist up and then of course break the thread? You sure it's not the thread shredding and then forming a ball on the next guide? What thread are you using? And have you tried other threads? By the time it gets to that point it should have worked out any severe twisting, there will always be a little but nothing to spin it up to break the thread.

That's what I use. Yes, when it breaks it will pull up and twist up. That's not why your thread is breaking though I bet. I'm betting your hook needs better timing or oiling. Are you breaking threads a lot or is this just every now and then? I can only use isacord because it's about the only thing my machine likes.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
