Anyone use CROWN thread, poly or rayon? I have a friend that is giving me some.

I use Maderia, and I have not heard of CROWN. Any thoughts.

I have never heard of Crown.
If it is free try it but I would be careful before using for a customer order since you don't know the long term quality of the thread.

We have been doing embroidery for about 23 years, I have never personally heard of that brand; i usually stick with Robison-Anton, Maderia, or Salus (I'm not sure if Salus is still around, great thread though)

Here is their site: Crown Embroidery Supplies . I hadn't heard of them either. Do they only ship form LA? Why is he giving it to you? I've been very happy with Madeira poly. The cheapest thread is the brand that looks good, lasts long and keeps your machines running without stops.

Amen to those of us who use Madeira. We have another shop here who buys the cheap thread to save a few pennies. It doesn't last, doesn't sew well, but it is cheap so they are happy. Customers don't know the difference at first, but they do in the future. Your reputation is on the line with each piece you put out; saving a few pennies isn't worth the risk.
