I can't take it anymore. I just need to finally vent. I have had my machine for about a year. I honestly feel that that machine is causing me to loose jobs... I know for a fact it cost me money. I have a screen printing shop and thought this would be great for those small runs. There is absolutely no consistency with this machine. I am so close to just telling the leasing company to come and get this thing. If you at all are considering this machine and have a small shop I would really reconsider. I am sure that I spend 600-1000 a month on this between ink and lease payments. From day one, the brothers tech left here with a Pretreat machine that didnt work properly. It still has never been resolved. White ink is terrible and expensive. If you leave the machine sit for even a day you have to clean the white ink lines, and basically do a maintenance to bring back the ink. If you are one of these die hard brothers guys looking for another machine... please contact me. I would do just about anything to get out of this lease. I truly believe I am going to just give up on the lease, its that or the business.... I feel that my business would be much further ahead without this thing. Please don't make the same mistake I did.

Hate to hear you are having so much trouble but appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I know you are specifically talking Brother, but we are a small shop considering DTG for the small runs which sounds much like you. Not considering Brother....Katana, Freejet, Tex Jet...but the more I read on the forums, the less wide eyed I am. It just seems like it takes a herculean effort just to keep these machines printing and printing a great shirt can be difficult. Good luck with your machine...hopefully you'll find a way to coexist!

I feel your pain. I purchased my Brother gt-361 and pre treat just over 1 year ago with same intentions. But the system has not lived up to expectations and I definitely dont use it for the smaller orders, and they sit here. Trying to get out of the lease and willing to take a loss and move ahead with more profitable equipment. I bet this will work for a everyday small print user..but definitely not for subbing screen orders.

As you and others are learning the hard way there is no easy process to make color transfers onto dark color shirts.
The Oki printer with the Neenah Image Clip paper works best using white toner and sublimation ink.
It will give you more vibrant colors, softer hand with excellent wash fastness.
Most of all it reduces the cracking of OEM colors toners by using sublimation ink as the replacement for the colors.
Unfortunately it takes about 8 to 10 minutes to make a transfer on a color shirt but you initial cost for the equipment is only around $2,000.00 with a ink jet printer and the Oki laser c831n printer. The white toner and the sublimation ink is around an additional $500.00.
The best advavtage for this type of system is the lack of down time and maintenance cost.
