The power of a Logo & the other merchandise that major companies put their brand on.

I am always amazed when I walk into some of the
big name sporting goods store and watch how
some logos slowly grow into major apparel sellers.

A few have started off as just the logo on a
Gilden T-shirt with no effort to even have a
new neck tag / label replacing it. After a few
months you walk back into the same store and
see the logo on everything from moisture wicking
golf shirts to wallets and wheel covers on Jeeps.

This website I found shows several major logos
being used on every kind of merchandise known
to man.

Brands - Signature Products Group

You can go to the left and click on PRODUCTS
and see pages and pages of items with these
well known logos.

Very powerful marketing and I am always amazed
at how both men AND women seek out these
products simply for the logo image.

If you scan through the product pages (bottom arrows)
on that page you might get a few new ideas
on items you could add to your product line.

I know I did.

It's not just marketing. The key here is LICENSING. The two often go hand in hand, but they are very different. The ability to license a property can open up millions of dollars in new revenue streams.

Good link, Ed. Thanks for sharing.

Exactly,

Taking it to a next level should always be on
the minds of anyone with an apparel line.

This simple, yet powerful eye catching logo is
a great example of how many who never owned
a Browning product will buy hats / apparel and
auto decals because they fall in love with the design.

You can dig around that entire website and find
each brands apparel and products. It's a great source
of information so be sure to use the links to each specific
brand.

And going hand in hand with marketing and licensing is DISTRIBUTION. Meaning, companies aren't developing these products in hope of getting sales on their website. They are selling the full range of products to key distribution outlets (retail chain stores) and then manufacturing and supplying based on those orders.

Back onto the topic of the power of the logo,

Here is a link to the Browning website and they
actually went into detail how they came up with
their "Buckmaster" logo.

They go into great detail about how they wanted a logo
for their apparel line.

Amazing that they shared this on the company website.

"The clothing line was very small in 1977, and the pressure was on to expand its acceptance. Invariably, whenever the clothing discussion came up, the salesmen always pointed to the example of the Izod shirt.... "
