I recently switched over to Shur-Locs for my best selling designs. Some of these static frames just got hammered over the Holiday and couldn't hold the tension. Shur-Locs made the most sense to me and the way I do things. But this isn't really about that, I'm happy with them though. I'll slowly be swapping everything over to the Shur-Locs as time goes by.

I also wanted to up my game a bit on my stencils. I have to admit, in my business I work on new stuff when I can. And I usually start coating screens when I get close to that time. It's funny how fast I can fall out of practice on screen coating though.

Anyway, so I switched to PHU and WOW, this stuff is great! The detail it holds is amazing. I had read some people were having some issues, but (knock on wood, or aluminum I guess), I didn't experience any of those problems. Thick stuff so I switched from a 3/2 coating with the thick edge to a 2/1 with the thick edge of the coater and it's just as thick and hopefully more durable than the Textil PV. Good stuff highly recommended!

I've been using PHU for over a year. The only issues are when guys are using in high humidity. Stuff is great. I do prefer the pink/red over the blue though.

I've had lots of issues with even the Textil PV here in the winter with humidity. I usually would switch to a dual cure. This past winter though, I barely had time to breath I was so busy fulfilling orders, so no time to release new stuff. And it really hasn't slowed down much. So...I'm trying to release new stuff on a "quarterly" basis. I might not have the time to mess with new stuff again this year by the time it gets humid here again. Which isn't a bad thing I guess.

I also decided that I don't like my Monster Max coater much. Dunno what it is, I feel like I have no control or something. I prefer the AWT Pro Angle 2 the best still over any other coater I've used.

Maybe I'll give the Monster another go next time or something.

I only use the monster for making capillary film type stencils. I use my standard coater and do a 1/1. Let dry. Then coat the shirt side with the monster coater and dry shirt side up. I can make 50-100 micron stencils without the cost of cap film.

The main thing about that coater is getting it set right. I bought one approximately 2 years ago. I still can use it real well for standard coating but a guy I had helping me could use it and get 25-35 micron stencils doing a 2/1 or 3/1.
