I will be honest here I read and read and read forums about this and I still am completely clueless, I even read the fast artist manual a lot and still no decent white print. I dont really know how to set up the artwork or how to really setup fast rip to get it to print right. I did get somewhat a white print but it was dull. I dont know if its from the pretreat or just my lack of knowledge of getting a crisp white ink.

Heres the details
Kiosk II.
Bundled with Fast Artist and FastRip.
Art work is a black PNG with transparent background.
I inverted the image in Corel X4 with a transparent background.
I imported the image into Fast Artist added what I had to such as their webpage. Changed that to white ink.
Gave it an underbase told fast rip to print with minor tweeks what am I missing?

Is there away to get fastrip to work with Corel X4 or Photoshop CS3?

I'm more of a visual guy if I see it done I can do it. But even typed help is better than none.

how are you doing your pre treat ,what are your under base settings ? and what is the blend of shirt ?
i do all my editing in corel i use fast artist as a bridge to fast rip so you should not have to do any adjustments in fastartist at all. white is hard to master i have ruined plenty of shirts getting it down so be patient and walk away and go back with a clear head.

Well I recently rewatched a video and havent tried it yet but right now they are as follows

Printing CMYK Cartoon 720
underbase Cartoon 1440
Preference
I have selected objects are checked
And entire area is selected.

The one black I tried I used a spray bottle which I think is the problem either too much or not enough treatment. I did pretreat another Black tee and used a wagner spreayer but havent tried it yet.

On a side note I did print a black version of the image they wanted and used the light pretreat and no bleeding and it was beautiful.

throw away the spray bottle
with the sprayer do not over soak the shirt
cure with firm pressure and do not overcook shirt
if parchment is still sticking hit the shirt for another five to ten seconds.
your white is dull from not enough pretreat
hit me up if you have other issues i have the same setup as you do .

thanks for all the information. The spray bottle is gone. I didnt oversoak the extra black I pretreated. However I ran out of black shirt figures right? A quick walmart run for me soon. So not enough pretreat is the problem. I really appreciate everything.

also i always run mini test print about 25% of original size so i can put about ten tests on one shirt, any smaller and the ink output will make you think you are running to much ink

Mini test prints? so you just resized them to fit on the shirt correct?

when you send to fastrip you have a screen that lets you resize , center or what ever
i make the image smaller and move to where i know i will have a blank part of the shirt, but make any changes in your settings first otherwise you will have to resize and move image again then print , if you like the results write it down. i have a book of jobs that i keep with the settings i like written down just in case i clear out memory that way i dont have to do all the bs again

i can usually get around six tests on one side of a shirt so 24 test total by turning shirt inside out

Bret thanks to your help I got two good white only prints. My next adventure is doing underbase and white highlights Its gonna be an exciting time.

So lets say I make an image and use white as a fill color and I import it to fast artist as a whole image I just use underbase with highlights?

Hi Martin,

You should not use any highlight white. The highlight white functionality was created before the latest generations of white ink and pretreatment. Now that we have these better inks and pretreat, it's unnecessary and in most cases is likely to hurt the look of your print rather than help it.

As Bret said, make sure the pretreated shirt is dry before you print it.

Also, try to purchase shirts through wholesalers. Department store shirts are sometimes sprayed with a sizing or other chemical that might interfere with getting a good print. You're looking for 100% cotton, ringspun shirts. Note that different shirts can have big differences in print quality.

thanks for that information. I will trying a full color print tonight once done with it. I agree about the wholesaler tshirts I ended up buying some shirts at walmart and it didnt work right, well that or I messed up on the white ink somehow.
