My opinion is that a generic tshirt pricing sheet is worth about the value of the paper it's printed on.

What I mean by this .....

Pricing is very much dictated by the market you're in. Are there are printers willing to do short runs? If so, research the pricing they're offering.

Beyond that, what are you in-house expenses? You mentioned you're just starting. What were your start-up costs? How quickly do you want to recoup those costs?

For me, pricing is contingent on a number of factors. I've researched our local market and have a good idea of what is competitive. I also consider whether it's a one-time customer or whether I will have additional opportunities. How quickly am I getting paid (if it's a school, for example, I'm going to need to up-price a bit simply because it's going to take 60 days to get my check). How difficult is the job going to be? Is the customer providing a print-ready image or am I going to have to work on it to get it prepared?

A decent rule-of-thumb for pricing is to check the online printers such as customink. Kind of like car shoppers, many people are now looking online first to get an idea of pricing before they contact a local printer.

There are just so many variables to consider that a generic pricing sheet that is one-size-fits-all is not going to get you very far.

Thanks. I'm going to call around today and get an idea of what they charge and go from there. I made a couple of jackets for a friend of ours and he liked my work so he ordered 12 t shirts. If I price it right, he will buy all his shirts from me.

If you want to see price lists just Google "screen print price list". Hundreds will show up.

I'm just not sure how that helps you. Firstly, prices are all over the map. Secondly, assumably, most were made with some thought and calculation in mind. just because someone can print a shirt for $1 based on their equipment and shop setup doesn't mean you could. You could be less, or more.

The correct way to do a price list is: My cost, including overhead to print + My desired profit margin = Price.
