anyone remember the website where you post what you need, and designers post their bid to you?

we are reaching a point now where i can keep up with designing, printing, mainting the website, ordering, shipping, delivering, sales calls, door to door sales, etc...

and now we are looking at a retail location and getting out of my garage..

so the first thing i need to outsource.. is designing. it's really what takes me the longest since i am not a designer, and i am still learning corel draw.

i can sometimes spend 3-4 hours on a design, that only takes me an hour in the shop to print!!

anyone here feel free to send me your information, links to your art etc...

i have a list of fellow members i am putting together.. so far i have Sullyman and Art4tees on my list..

but i thought i remembered seeing a website a while back with freelance designers. you would post what you want, they would post back with their design and their price. and you bought whichever you wanted.. so you had options to review.

anyone remember it?

Yes it was called thedeathoffreelancedesign.com. where designers shouldn't get paid for there work unless you like it and the guy next to you did a worse job in your opinion.
Do yourself a favor..don't cheapen your quality, or the trade just to save a few bucks. In the end you'll end up paying someone to do a proper job anyway. Besides a lot of freelancers will give you a few renditions. As long as the designer is good at his job and your clear and focused on your goal...you should have no problem nailing it. Outsourcing sites are a virus

I've just secured an order to vectorise 1500 logos for a customer.
I have managed to get good graphic designers from different forums who have given us rock bottom prices.
I have tested all of them and they all have shown tremendous skills. They just don't have the business sense.
Our aim is to secure enough work for these designers to be able to get good discounted rates for the future.
We are therefore willing to take on new customers who have good volume of vector work and we are willing to offer rates starting from $4.00.

I have to agree. Finding a skilled artist and one that is trade specific is fairly difficult to seek out. And now, when these crowd sourcing sites get "designers" together, they cheapen an already financially barren field. a majority of sites like Elance, designcontest, etc. are people slapping pre-made clipart together and half don't understand the print side.

If you want to continue to have a successful return rate with your designs seek out someone that is talented and does their job well. Remember, you get what you pay for. Any designer willing to sell their first born for some quick cash is going to give you just that in return... quick, generic, half assed work.
I have 5 artists on staff that can create all most anything. What we need is detailed info on what you need in regards to your art project.

Things to consider about your artwork

  • We require 50% down before we do any work. Feel free to request portfolios from artist to help you in your Artist selection.
  • What is it that you want, be detailed, spell it out this makes the artist life much easier and will reduce cost if you are paying by the hour.
  • Color scheme what colors do you want to use for your image.
  • Usage rights, full usage right can be expensive to get from some artist. But for some of my guys getting full usage rights is not even a issue so make sure you consider this.
  • Budget don’t say you don’t know, you know what you will not pay so use that at a starting point when picking your budget
  • Time frame, if you need the artwork Friday it is better if we get all the info before Thursday. Please consider revisions time when setting a due date.
  • What file format do you need the final image to be in?
  • We aim for 72 hour turnarounds on all jobs, in a perfect world this will always happen but in the real world things happen. If it is a absolute must you get your artwork on a certain date we can tag your job as a Mercury Bumping it to the top of our priority list for a small fee.
If you are tired of getting the run around from artist and know that you must pay for quality work done at high quality standards send us a E-mail and we will get right on your project.
