Super Weird Data/Encoder Issue on Kornit

2903 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Ghoster32111
Hello All,

Hoping someone will have a solution for me. Have a 931DS and it is doing something very strange see picture attached.

photo.JPG

Each head is confused where it is at and isn't firing the nozzles at the right time.

We've replaced the encoder cable on the X, W, Y, Z. We have new serial cables from the COM Ports, We have a net CAT5 cable to the data card. We've checked all the dongles and the cables on the print heads. The encoder strips are clean.

We're stumped and really so is Kornit and now we at the point of just replacing parts (like $35000 head board) one at a time until we find a solution.

Anybody else had this issue before?

Thanks

Christopher

I had the same problem on my 932.
Check the connector on the top of the printheads.
Check the data cable connected to the computer. It looks like internet cable line.
Check the connector on the electronic board box (in the machine, not at the back of the machine). Take a look at the attached photo. It's 932's photo, not 931. Maybe the connector loose.
The above is the causes mostly.

Check the x-axis encoder stripe, is it clean or wear out? I changed the encoder stripe, but I am not sure this is the true cause or not.

Hope this helps.

I don't have a 931, I have a Breeze but from the photo it looks like what happens when my encoder strip goes bad. They do where out and the smallest of small scratches can mess everything up. You said it's clean but I say try replacing it. At the very least its a cheap part.

What is cheap for you?

In europe it is 1000 eur for encoder strip!

They have made improvements since that post 5 years ago, now the encoders are encased in glass, the retrofit for my breeze at the time was $950 not sure what the price maybe now.
it could be just a glitch. Ours will do the same thing and a standard reboot of the computer will fix. If its just one color and it won't go away after a reboot it is either a cable or a dongle.
My cousin's kornit breeze at exactly the same problem,
the technician say changing the encoder strip, have you changing it and noticing an improvement?

Try just cleaning the encoder some plain ol rubbing alcohol on a lint free cloth can make all the difference.
