suggestions and internet marketing

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say I am a big fan of this site and have been reading it for a long time.

I recently founded a site called www.shirtorders.com and am having some difficulty figuring out how to market the site. Basically, the site allows users to upload their photo or image to a blank white shirt and have it shipped to them for a flat rate of $10/shirt (one-side) and $12/shirt (both sides). It's designed more for personal rather than bulk orders. If anyone else here has had any success with marketing their internet shirt site I would really appreciate some suggestions. Thanks everyone!:)

Proper internet marketing requires a substantial ongoing investment and expertise. It usually involves contracting with companies that specialize in the internet marketplace. We have been on the internet since 1995 and there isn't a day that goes by that our site doesn't require updates, tweaking, etc. To be successful you must be visible and well placed in the search engines. You might find it very difficult to be profitable selling the custom shirts at such a low price after realizing the expenses required to drive people to your sight, and then converting them to sales.
Thanks Ed, appreciate the advice! I'll look into internet marketing companies and pricing. I was thinking of using facebook, have you ever dealt with advertising on a social networking site like that? And if so, has it worked for you?
Internet marketing I don't have any answers for but I get a huge amount of business from having magnets on the side of my car. Daily I give out business cards just because of the signs on my car. It has been my best advertising besides the shirts I wear and make! I got the magnets from www.vistaprint.com They always have free items and their shipping is really inexpensive too.
Also, My daughter does gymnastics, I make all the shirts and clothing for their team, I also donated $40 and was able to hang a banner at their gym. This has been a great advertising opportunity too. There are over 400 kids that go in and out of there weekly. Parents have alot of time to read the stuff on the walls.

Good luck with your new site!

Yes, we have advertised on these type sites with very minimal results. It is sooooo difficult these days to compete with websites like Cafe Press, Zazzle, Spreadshirt, ChoiceShirts, etc.
