Hello,
I am a newbee when it comes to sublimation.
I bought a Ricoh 3110dn printer with Sublijet-R inks. I have a 15 x15 heat press and i bought sublimation heat transfer paper from bestblanks.com. It says EPQ-Photo Quality Paper.

I printed on the paper (i tried both sides). I heat up at 400F and press it for 50 secs. when i open up i see a very faint yellow print of my graphic.

What am i doing wrong?

What kind of tees are trying to sublimate? Tees have to be 100% polyester for sublimation.

*Not sure if this image is showing or not.
What's the part number of your paper?
EPQ-xxxxx

Just shooting in the dark here....
You didn't put the ink carts that came with the printer in it did you? The standard ink carts are not sub inks. If you did, you'll have to flush the lines using the sub ink to get it working as it should.

On the paper, there's a bright white side and a duller white side. The bright white side is the print side.

Are you using a print profile (ICC profile) with your printer/software?

Did you start the printer with OEM inks and then put in the sublimation carts? If so you still have some OEM inks in print head. I would guess that you don't have sublimation paper because bestblanks.com lists paper for sublimation from Accuplot or texprint. It does list not show EQP for sublimation. Without seeing the paper it sure sounds like photo quality for printing photographs.when you print on the paper is the image rather bright or does it look faded. True sublimation paper and sublimation ink the image will be faded

After following the above recommendations for making sure the correct ink is being used on the correct paper, make sure you are using the correct pressure on your press. Also make sure you are using the correct temperature on your press because some are Celsius and some are Fahrenheit.

First.. pressure. If your press does not come with a digital control for pressure you will need to manually adjust the pressure with the knob on top.

Light pressure: You can close and lock the lid with one or two fingers (place a piece of paper between the upper and lower platens and when closed the paper will not budge)
Medium pressure: You can close and lock the lid with one hand and a bit of elbow grease.
Heavy pressure: You can close and lock the lid with 2 hands and a lot of elbow grease.

To convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit

C x 1.8 + 32 = F
F - 32 / 1.8 = C ( {F minus 32} divided by 1.8)

Hi,
The Stock number to the paper is EPQ-PHOTO- QUALITY PAPER. It sounds like it is the paper is just regular paper versus sublimation. The Invoice says EPQ-8511C which is the ACCUPLOT option they have. ub

I bought the printer brand new and it came with Sublijet-r cartridges. This is the only ink I've put into the printer. (this is my first time)

I just did some research and it looks like they sent the OEM inks.... Did this just ruin my printer?
No...the printer is fine. You'll just have to flush it out with the sub ink. This is a wasteful process...but has to be done to get the sub ink to the print head.

The ink carts should specify what they are. What does the label on the cart say?

Also, when you print on sub paper using sub ink, the image will NOT be bright. It'll look faded. The magic happens when you press it.
