Dear All

I have been producing t-shirts now for several years using vinyl but would like to move into printing with sublimation ink and Durabrite ink. I plan to use the sublimation ink for mugs and Durabrite for cotton t-shirts.

What would be the best way to go about this? Is there a printer than both inks can be used in or would you recommend separate printers. If so, which printers and cartridges are the best for each job.

Thanks for any help you can provide

Yes, separate printers one with sublimation ink and one with pigment ink.
People like the Epson 7610, 7620, or 7110 and all use the same ink cartridge. You can find all of it (ink/cartridges) at cobra ink, which a lot of people here use.

Thanks for your help. You may not know the answer to this question do Cobra deliver to the UK?

Another stupid question do you buy the cartridges empty and then fill them with the particular ink you want eg pigment or sublimation or do you buy them pre-filled?

You can swap out cartridges with Epson printers. We do it occasionally with dye sub and pigment ink.

If you're going to be printing a lot with both inks, separate printers is easier, faster and cheaper.

Every time you swap cartridges, the printer uses ink to prime the heads - like a head cleaning of sorts (I think that's the right terminology). That process also takes about 5 minutes or so.

You can buy an Epson for $150, so the price is worth having two.
