You can sublimate on any color besides black. Just remember that you can only go darker and can not produce colors lighter than the shirt itself.

Blackwork on darker colors (deep reds, dark greys, etc.) can turn out very cool with the right design.
Navy Blue and Purple don't come out to well either with any other colors. Or at least they didn't for me.

Most colours should work on gold - as soon as they are quite a bit darker than your "background" colour.

If you are sublimating on a coloured shirt, the base colour will give your graphics a bit of a "hue".
I'd say, basic colour blending rules apply - i.e. blue text on yellow shirt will look a bit green, red on yellow will look slightly orange, blue on red will appear a bit purple and so on.
