It depends on the inks, and the location.

It could be just a few months, and maybe up to 2 years if you are lucky. There is a reason why outdoor signs are baked enamels.

Themagictouch has a new aluminium for sublimation which is guaranteed for minimum of 5 years outdoors.


Sublimation Aluminium is normally liquid coated but this one is double powder coated.


1.2mm thick.


Not tried it yet so cannot comment on it.

The catch is usually in what exactly is guaranteed.

The coating may last for 10 years, but the sublimated image will fade long before that.


Two component liquid coatings are as durable as powder-coatings. I know, because I restore cars and bikes as a hobby. It involves a lot of painting of different parts with different methods. I gave up on powder-coating years ago.

That's interesting because most clear PPFs are intentionally non UV blocking and here is why.

This is a typical installation (red parts) of PPF.
If the PPF has UV blockers the grey parts will fade and you will end up with an odd looking car.
