We have a customer interested in sweatshirts with the attached design. We have the logo set for embroidery but for several reasons don't want to embroider the front of the sweatshirt! That would be a lot of fill stitching!
The sleeve logo is fine and we are planning on embroidering that as is.

The customer is really wanting an Applique/Patch look for the front - very collegiate looking.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this? The problem seems to be with the two tone fill on the crest....

Thanks PixelPimp. We definitely plan on going with straight embroidery on the sleeve.

We love the idea of doing applique on the front with the crest details embroidered over the applique material. The problem we're running into is what kind of material to use as the background of the crest is two-toned.

Do we have to stitch together two pieces of fabric? And if so, won't the seam going down the middle kind of throw everything off?

you will need to parts of material for the crest (one of each color).
I have minimal experience with embroidery and from that i believe you will need a seem going down the middle but it doesn't have to be apparent. the way i would suggest is do a border around each section in the color of the fabric. It's not as low a thread count as just a column down the middle holding both in place but it will give you the look you want with a quality finish.
You could also do just 2 columns instead of the full boarder. The trick will be getting the columns to look clean side by side.
