Hello everyone my name is J.R. And I?m stuck I. One spot y?all. About 5 months ago I got into the t shirt game with no info no help I said I?m doing it. My dream is to start a clothing line I love clothes and shoes. I went out and bought a Power Heat Press off Amazon and I bought a Us Cutter MH 871 MK2 plotter the 34? and a Epson 7610. I started making shirts and believe it or not I have a lot of regular customers and my work is great for a beginner but I?m not seeing the profit but I keep spending my money cause I love this I finally found something I love to do. 2 nights ago doing some Astros shirts I was online searching for some kind of info and ran across this forum but after I found out that I?m doing everything wrong. I use a lot of vinyl cause I mess up and in order to fix it I make it a master piece so I?m giving the customer a $50 shirt for $20. Any kind of advice I would greatly appreciate guys really I need help cause I think my business is about to go to the next level and I can?t handle that much business cause I work full time and I have a family and I spend too much time on one shirt or hoodie cause I?m fixing dings here and there. So thanks in advance for your feed back. Here is a couple of pics of some of my work.

I would offer a friendly caution you on using copyrighted images/logos/etc. on your apparel. It is a fast way to get sued. If anyone here tells you differently then I would recommend talking to a lawyer. You said you have a family, I doubt being sued would help you any.

As for wasting materials, how are you wasting them?

As for time, it takes us 1-10 mins to make a shirt using heat transfer vinyl. This would be cutting it out, weeding it, setting up the shirt on the press, pre pressing shirt, and pressing the HTV on. The more you do it the faster you will be. This would be for 1 off designs, but if we are doing a quantity of the same design we cut them all at the same time, weed them all at the same time, and press them at the same time.

Amw is right

you need to make your own designs,
even if you start with simple text and a few flourishes

but stealing other people's work is not the way to fly
Thanks for the info but I didn't know they were copy written designs. I buy my SVG files of Etsy and the Duck shirt and the BLS jacket those files the customer gave me for there shirts. But I really appreciate you telling me that. And I didn't mean waste vinyl I said it wrong but some designs if it's my first time doing it and it has multiple colors I may use a lot of vinyl fixing what I feel is not perfect and it might take me 2 hours on a shirt until it's perfect.

Again just an FYI customers do not always have the rights to what they bring you. Some people try to say its on the customer, but in most cases its on you to prove that you were allowed to reproduce the art.

Give me an example of something that you are spending a lot of time fixing and I can try to give you some help.

One thing is some of the images I buy when I receive them I still have to work with them. I know my machine settings is off but I make it work but I know I'm missing something. I have paid people for these so called classes here. But just in 2 days I have found that a lot of the info I got when I started was wrong but maybe they didn't really know either. But I have a US Cutter MH 871-MK2 and a heat press by Power Heat Press a 16"x24" and I'm using SCAL 3 Pro. Some my cuts be a little Off If I'm using multiple colors so some times to get the job perfect I use more vinyl then I want to.
