Hi all

I posted a few days ago because I could not get my cutter running with my current program which has been fine for 2 years (winPCSIGN Letter). No responce from them when emailed.

I have tried everything.

I downloaded Signcut-X2 to try because I had exhausted all other options with my current program. This program will communicate with the cutter but it just spools along never cutting. It starts spooling but never stops.

I have changed all the settings and vinyl size etc but it still just spools!! I have an urgent job to do and can't get it started.

It's driving me crazy, any ideas, anybody?

Have you tried calibrating the cutter before sending something to cut with SignCut?

I was just looking at the machine and noticed the product code is MH 721, is that a pcut model, Vectorx or redsail or other because when I google that code it seems they all have the same code? Is that right or not, mine is badged as a VectorX but runs on Redsail drivers according to the WinPCSIGN software.

I know alot of these machines share parts etc, but looking at pictures it looks like a pcut!

Does that mean I should try a few different model settings in signcut-X2?

Thanks Ken, I've tried all the plotters with the same code/make, nothing is making it work, some make it spool continuously and others will spool and move the blade but only so it cuts zigzag lines randomly.

It's all since I downloaded the trial of WinPCSIGN 2007, never should of done it specially since I had a big job coming up.

I originally got the cutter from premiersign in the UK, sent an email but no reply. I have had the cutter 2 years now so don't expect and service really.

Looks like I might need a new one and new software or should I give it all up! That would make the wife happy, hmmmm or has she hidden the software and messed with the settings ;)

If it all started when you download the trial of WinPCSign, I assume you have since uninstalled everything to do with that program?

The MH series of cutters are very easy to work on and replacing parts is a breeze.

Yep, I uninstalled the trial I downloaded. That was the first thing I did, but it made no difference.

I've had another look on signmax website but can't see any answers. I tried to email them but no reply to date.

If it's an issue with the cutter itself, what could it be?

I am but a novice. However, you could try my suggestion below....

Is your cutter connected by a USB cable or Serial cable? Either way, if you haven't already done so, check the Baud rate settings match up with your cutter and the Com port it is using on your PC. Also, yor software may need to have the same information. If they are not all the same Baud rate, you may well get these symptoms you described.
It is a stab in the dark, but worth checking. Hope you resolve it soon. Good luck.

It's serial and I have checked the baud rate.

I have just tried to look at the system-hardware-device manager-ports but it won't let me in and says MMC cannot open file. I wanted to check the ports but it won't let me!

I give up!!

No problem. If you need any more help after you've got the hotfix just ask. Computers, I know well. Cutters.... mmm... still learning. As you live in blighty I can also phone you if you need help. Stay away from those trucks in the meantime!
