I need some help.
I have a Stika SV-15
It has been an awesome machine. but the last few times I have used it, it has been messing up bad.
The cuts that it does are clean, good corners and good penetration. BUT the cuts are overlapping.
I am using 12" wide rolls. I go into properties and set up inches and the correct width. I load up images. I load the decal sheets/shirt press sheets/doesn't matter what material I try to cut....
the machine turns on fine and starts going at it.
but it wants to move the outline of the image more towards the center of the cutter and when it gets to the inside details, the blade moves more towards the correct location. this causes the image to be cut as an overlapping cut. it will also go past the parameters that I set up in the print properties.....I reloaded the software and it is still doing the same thing...

I have asked others and I have no idea what is going on...I has to be easy,,,,,right???
the cutting is good but the placement is bad.

any ideas?
anyone been through this?

WELL, I got my wifes computer and loaded up the drivers for windows 7 (mine is windows 10) loaded Cut Studio and ran a vinyl cut. it does the same thing on hers.

I cut a 9" long string of text at 6cm in height with no issues. but a logo that is 60cmx60cm or anything else at this point will not cut. I do the art work on Corel Draw and export it. the font stream I did has no issues but everything else I have tried to do wont work.

I don't get it. . . not at all...

is there some sort of memory purge on the actual cutter...a memory that needs to be cleaned?

Try unplugging it for a minute should purge it.

Can you post pictures?

Thank you a reply... I have unplugged it for about 30 mins...still the same thing.

I know these are bad pics. . . but you can see hoe it cuts over top of the cuts. I set my properties at 9.+" for my cut media size then I have my object at 4" long and it will cut all the way across the media and then off the other side !
it cuts over top of what it already cut and is totally unusable...but it printed the texts just fine. . .
I don't understand how it works then just doesn't. . . .

I thought I did but. . . I thought I cleaned everything from the file. . .purged it so to speak. . . but
tomorrow I plan to take a different file, one that I know will print, one that I printed recently and try it.
if it works than I must have a corruption issue. if it still gives issues. . . . .
than I guess I will have to call Roland and see about sending it to them to go through. . . .


no other options that I know of, and I have lost work already.

Let me preface this that I am a Graphtec guy when it comes to plotters so can only speak from the Corel and Flexi (bastardized by Graphtec --I won't address CuttingMasterless) side of things.

So the quick and dirty fix to get this done is to convert it back to bmp and have Corel redraw it,,, I have had this happen occasionally and it seems like Corel gets a second copy of some of the objects but they don't appear in the object manager. I have had to redraw whole pieces in order to solve the issue. I find with simple graphics it just is easiest to coax CDraw to redraw a good size bmp and then clean up the needed things...

1 regularly missed thing that can cause doubling of graphics in CDraw is by using the smart fill tool... I have done this numerous times (just when I think I have learned my lesson I do it again:-/ ... However, the second line will show up in the object manager...

Someone suggested it may be an offset issue which unless Roland is doing something really different in their controls, it cannot be. Offset only changes blade proximity and would not change the programming of the vector cut itself (really oversimplified explanation)...

If you send me the CDR file I'll put it thru the Graphtec and see if it happens here... inkspotzapparel (ata) gNail dota com ...

I have been out of town. I took the cutter with me to try a few things. I had no internet there at all so I am just getting back. . . .

nothing worked...nothing that I have previously cut works.
nothing new works
I cant even print a simple box.... it off sets parts of it.

I just don't know what the ------ is going on.
I have wasted so much vinyl.

all I think I can do is send it back for Stika and see what they can do with it.....


I have no other option at this point,


after the first of the year, shes going back and see what can be done.

I would do a factory reset back to the defaults of the plotter. It sounds like it has decided to communicate in the wrong language...

I would love too.... but I don't see anything.

haahahahaahaha....it got me. I have been able to trouble shoot my 3D printer, redo the programing and fine tune it...rebuilt parts of it and expanded on it... those are so much more difficult than a cutter. . . so why. . . .AAHAHHHHHHhhhhhh

I cut the exact same image. . . 9 times....never turned off the machine or reset or anything.
here is why. . . . . and what happened
the first cut worked perfectly. . . awesome ! ! !
2nd,3rd,4th bad. . . progressively worse...
5th was salvageable
6th,7th bad. . .worst yet
9th salvageable.
wasted a lot of material but the job got completed...
nothing new to print....now I can take this outside and put a few rounds in it......

I did not read the whole thread...but did you try changing the cable?
Maybe it is damaged?
How old is the plotter?

WHAAAAAT.. I am starting to think it is not the cutter but instead someplace in the software.
is there a free or cheap software I can down load that will work and someone has used with a Stika SV-15.

I would love to try something else....

We have the 1st 4...but really we only use signlab, and illustrator with a plugin for our graphtecs. Flexi is very OVER priced and not easy for new users to jump into. Cybercut is really easy to use but IDK if they are still around.

Hello The rustedwrench,

You mentioned using Roland CutStudio to cut a name out and that worked. It's great to know you have CutStudio, so it's recommended to continuing using CutStudio and run the cutter through its paces. To be absolutely sure the problem is not the cutter, it would have to work, over and over and over (without failure) from CutStudio (be sure it's updated to the latest version, v3.10).

If it fails from CutStudio, we would concluded that the cutter is malfunctioning. Repair or replacement would be needed.

sorry for the delay getting back. work - holidays - and the fact that I just don't get a lot of time...

I have CutStudio 3.00 updates. I will look for 3.1 and install - try it.
Anything I create, draw, export, import, have the software outline for me. . . . WILL NOT WORK
BUT-------If I create any text inside the software it cuts perfect !

NOTHING but the text works....this tells me it is more of a software issue. so I will keep moving forward.
