Help I have a Stika-8... It cuts the design fine, however, I'm getting extra cut lines across the design. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? Tech support was of no help.

Have you tried looking at cutting preview to see if those extra marks show up on the preview? If it shows up on the preview you can always close the preview and go back to the design screen and select and delete the extra items. If you are cutting out an image you can select the image and click on object and select break polyline and you can delete the unwanted items individually. Let me know if this helps or not.

I tried that, but didn't work.
The extra cut lines don't show up on the cut preview.

Tech support said the vinyl was probably bunching under the rollers. I can't see it even puffing a little when cutting. Tried with a sheet of paper that was perfectly flat and it does the same thing.

Hi Wendy,

Open your design in your graphics software, select all using the selection tool, change all strokes to the color black and then remove all fill. If there are blank vectors they should show up. You can PM me and I will take a look at your artwork if you like.

The lines aren't showing up in the cut preview. I did have one or two sheets that printed perfectly, then BLAM - lines everywhere. I don't think its an issue with the design, but either the machine or maybe the vinyl?

If it is doing this intermittently then you are correct, it is not hidden entities in your artwork. Static dissipation can cause this effect. Are you cutting in a dry environment? Have a look at this post about static dissipation in vinyl cutter systems:

Straight lines across the design or possibly two lines where you expect one?

I suppose another possibility here is a faulty USB port on the PC, a faulty USB port on the cutter or a bad printer cable. Can you change connection ports on your computer and change the connection cable?

Finally did a video chat with tech support. The unit they shipped was missing the tension arm on one side and the arm that holds the cutter cartridge is faulty. Back to the factory it goes. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!
