hows it going. just wondering what i would need to start a little vinyl heat transfer business. i live up here in barrow, alaska. if anyone can help me find out what i need to get started as far as best heat press, best vinyl and software. thanks for your time.

When you say the best, that's not really saying much because you haven't stated your budget. You could pay as low as three figures for a cutter and as high as five figures. So therefore, the best at what budget.

Also, remember if you are making this a business, you should go for quality equipment.

Just my 3 cents lol. ( I know it's 2)

well as of right now i have a roland versacamm sp-300v in mind, and i know i can use it as a cutter. also i can print on it, but i was just wondering what the quality of the vinyl that can be printed on. please excuse my lack of knowledge on this whole subject. i dont really know the proper terms for all this.

I don't know what you mean about the quality of the vinyl? With a versacamm you can (if it's big enough) print car wraps, or labels, or decals, or I think maybe even vinyl for clothing. As far as cutting vinyl for clothing is concerned the versacamm is overkill. You just need a cutter/plotter like the Graphtec CD5000-60 or the Roland gx-24. Both of which are under $2,000 new. You will also need a heat press and vector software like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw.
