I started selling tshirts in high school. I used to print them in my graphic arts class. If you don't have a class like that in your school then try to find a shop that will work with small orders just to start you off.

First thing....Research!

You'll need $ and funds to buy shirts, pay for printing, etc.....find a local screen printer and they'll guide you on the printing....or buy t-shirt transfer paper at Walmart, find or make your design, print your design and iron it on the t-shirt...cheap, low cost, but low quality

if you are in the usa, at 16 you do not have the legal ability to create a contract so you will have some limitations until you are 18.

start with friends and family and make shirts for them. then move on to clubs that you belong to and clubs in your school. that should give you a good start for little or no money invested

I would say to focus on what you think would sell (for example.....a design that others have told you they would buy the shirt if it existed). Once you have an amount of people that are willing to buy them (I'd say a minimum of 12) then speak with a local screen printer and ask how much they would charge to print the amount of shirts you need. Then, based on their quote to you you then come up witha price that once the shirt is sold you are able to cover the cost of the shirt, printing and still walk away with a modest profit. At this point, the only thing this would cost you is time.

Keep in mind that the profit you start to make by outsourcing will be modest but something is better then nothing. The experience alone will help learn and will allow you to move on to the next phase which is buying equipment yourself if you so choose to.

I hope this helps you. Good luck my young friend!
