Spray paint

Hi,
To start designing I was actually considering using spray paint and cardboard cutouts for my shirts. Is that feasible? I don’t really have $10,009 lying on the table to purchase a screenprinter.

you can start screnprinting with 150 bucks and you get color as well and heat gun.

I didn't know they are selling color for textiles in cans -.-
My kids bought some fabric spray paint from walmart or some place once. It was a mess. It dribbled around the nozzle, squirted rather than sprayed, bled through the fabric and was less than desirable. Of course, it was a cheap off the shelf brand. Maybe all aren't the same.

I've read that there is some kind out there that you first hit the shirt with a acrylic or latex clear finish, then apply fabric paint and it takes better.

But if I was going to do this on a regular basis instead of just a shirt or two for my self, I'd get a screen printing rig like seacookie said. Lots of DYI tutorials on youtube about basic setups.

How? I googled screenprinters for sale and that’s where I got the $10k number.
Ryonet has a one color starter kit for $199. Not a bad little kit for home printing. They also have a 4 color table top press with some goodies for $599, which would probably be a better buy.

You can buy a heat press and do plastisol transfers until you get the business up and running.....with a heat press and inexpensive plotter you could also do HTV

edit: joke on a side, it can be done very cheap if you are starter. There is no need to spend bunch of money if you google around and you are handy man.
