i wont lie im new to this game.
ive thrown myself in head first !

ive got my patterns made my opening range of designs done. swing tickets on there way!

but now i have to fork out for the biggest cost and im frought with worries!

i now need to source and spend on the fabrics for the materials.

1. how do i know my fabrics will be of as good a quality as my competitors ?

2. what do i have to worry about with regards shrinkage and fading ( i need these garments to be of the best there is) and dont want them shrinking when im attaching credit card sized nylon labels to the shirt

3. how do i know these fine fabrics will take the printing i require prior to purchase ?

4. is there any Uk / midlands fabric suppliers anyone can point me in the direction of who specialise in working with high standard streetwear companies anyone knows of ???

thanx in advance

Well who are your competitors?

Where do you want to source fabrics from? Somewhere local, or somewhere like Asia?

Once you figure these things out, your search may be a little easier. These places want your business and can even make fabric to your specifications (weight, content etc), and send you samples which you can test shrinkage and printing on.

Try to find out the specifications of the fabric you want to mimic first; content, weight, singles etc. Then get them to make it to the same specifications.

sorry to sound like an amateur but how do i find this out?

the label on a similar tshirt only gives you so much info not enough to work off though is it.

cheers for any further help you can give :)

You have to do your own testing of the fabric, and work with a reputable vendor that will take the goods back if the shipping samples they give you to test fail, or not matching the bulk shipment. A responsible vendor will also give you credit if there is damage within the rolls (holes, shading, stains etc.) If they sell fabrics to brand name manufacturers, they should gladly tell you (bragging rights). So you should find out what your competitors are buying, if the vendor is important enough in the business.
