Hi, I am currently reviewing simple seps product via free trial. I am really liking many of the features and am very close to purchasing. I do have a few issues I am trying to resolve.

#1 - When I produce seperations with halftones I ssumed I would only get the halftone dots in the areas that were less than 100% spot colors. I keep getting halftone dots even in 100% spot color areas. I have tried filling with Pntone process black, other pantone blacks and CMYK black and I still seem to always get halftone dots Is there a way to get rid of the halftone dots in the 100% spot color areas?

#2 - When producing seperations which include halftones I seem to always get numerous stray halftone dots in unfilled areas around my design. They are very small, maybe too small to even hold in a screen but i assume I am doing something wrong to get stray dots.

#3 - When producing seperations in simple seps the files are output as Greyscale bitmap images. Do you need to convert these to B & W Monochrome Bitmaps before printing? I am outputting to an epson 1280 phot printer.

Thank you for any help you can supply

I believe you are using CorelDRAW X5...

1. go to Graphic design software, photo editing software, video editing software download and install Service Pack 3 for CorelDRAW X5.

2. Go to Tools/Color Management/Default Settings and in the upper left hand corner you will see Presets. Set that to Simulated Color Off...

3. Watch your email for a new version of SimpleSeps that has been released now with support for all black printing and halftones are now RIPed to monochromes. It is also about 500% faster now and compatible with X6.

4. If you are able to upgrade to X6 do so it is much more stable and fast than X5.

Tom will the email go out to all simple seps owners automatically or do we need to ask for it?
If your email addy is the same as when you ordered you will get an email.. You will have two options.

1. Download
2. Or order a new disc for back up for a small fee.

If your email has changed then you will have to request as we will have to look up your transaction for release a download etc.

The begining of this video will show you how to set up your presets in color management in CorelDRAW for the best results in SimpleSeps. Which should deal with some of the issues in the orginal post on this thread.

In the last 3 weeks, I have upgraded computer systems and decided to give Corelx5 another shot.. so I installed it and all the plugin's that I have, everything worked great..
yesterday I needed to seperate some films for print and I pulled up Simple Seps... and when I tried to change the colors, it wouldn't give me a color pallete. It loads, it shows me all the colors in the design but when I select the color I want to change, and click "replace" nothing happens...
I have tried to install the service pack 3 update for Corel x5.. but get an error every time.. saying the program might be missing... it's not I have Corel installed in it's default location on the C: so all the plugin's can find it...
Anyone else having any issues???? Any suggestions???

Thanks
Kenna

Try these steps, X5 without Service Pack is not going run SS properly,,

1. go to Graphic design software, photo editing software, video editing software download and install Service Pack 3 for CorelDRAW X5.

2. Go to Tools/Color Management/Default Settings and in the upper left hand corner you will see Presets. Set that to Simulated Color Off...

Hey just so we can clear this up and find out exactly where there may be a conflict, can anyone using SimpleSeps Raster and Simple Seps (and experiencing similar issues) give me a PM here so I can contact you directly?

Not all of the separations from SimpleSeps Raster will have 100% black, it all depends on the type of separation being performed and the values in the original image.

If you use the Click-Seps custom color section then the color you pick with the eye-dropper will be the 100% black and depending on whether you choose a pull % or a spot-color it will have halftones fading out.

The Auto-Seps colors operate based on pure tones in the artwork and are mostly meant for photographic and full-color imagery that you want to reproduce with a color blending model.... so if the artwork does not have pure RGB Red -- it may still have reds in the art and end up in the red separation but you wont' see a 100% area of the reds in the separations. Even if you have 2 spot-colors in the design for example Red and Black, if those actual RGB values of the pixels are not RGB 255,0,0 for the Red, and RGB 0,0,0 for the black - then the Auto-Seps are not going to give 100% on those. That is what we developed the Click-Seps color pulls for, as you can eye-drop the exact colors in your artwork and pull a blend % into other shades or a solid spot-color.

I've been working over the last couple months paying attention to all the user input and feedback and developing more features and making the current features more robust and easier to get the results you want.

I think what is going on with the SSR to SimpleSeps RIP is just where the artwork is not 100% black from the separation pull. Even if it looks dark but is not 100% black then you will get halftone dots in those areas.

But its hard to tell without seeing the images you are trying to separate, the sep results before they go into SS 3 for RIP and then compare to the halftone result.

Just post in here with some more information or PM me and I will contact you back with my phone number or give me your contact information and I will call you. I'm sure we can figure out whats going on and get your seps and RIPs output correctly.

One thing to take a look at.. If you are using SSR you need Simulated Color Management turned off in Both CorelDRAW and Corel PhotoPaint. Also verify that Simulated Color Management is turned off and not set to a custom setting which can also cause this.

What is happening here is that if the color management is set to something like say CMYK. Then allot of the actual black is pushed in the CMY colors which results in black not converting to pure black in DRAW and or PhotoPaint in the separation process.
