Hi! I just had some questions regarding sublimation printers. I have been making shirts, signs, etc with a Silhoutte Cameo and htv for several years now. I’m doing really well with a small side business, but there are some limitations to heat transfer vinyl. I was just wondering what kind of sublimation printer you would recommend for someone just starting out. It would mainly be used on T-shirt’s. Also, would I print and cut, or simply print and heat press? Thank you so much for any advice or opinions.

You don't print cut sublimation, just print transfer. Remember it is polyester only for shirts. Whites only too, (lights can work.) It can be photo-realistic. I would go gel ink due to less clogging. If your going to run sublimation inks through a normal printer, it takes gobs of ink to flush the system. You will probably have to do a dozen cleaning cycles to get it ready. A new printer and starting with sub ink is much less hassle.

Not really, depending on the printer. On desktop printers using cartridges, you simply swap out the cartridge to sublimation, the printer does an automatic head cleaning once, and you're good to go.
