The Silhouette software is very good, but it imports a little differently than other programs and is limited as to file types. If you're trying to import vector images, they should be exported as dxf files and then imported to "my library" on the Silhouette software. You can then open your library and double click the image to place it on the page for cutting.

well alot of the images are jpegs, random images from "google images" do you think these have to be exported as dxf files as well?

No, the Silhouette Software will open these directly. You have to choose the correct file format at the bottom of the open screen (It automatically defaults to the .studio format). You can also drag a compatible file directly onto your workspace in the software.

I believe the Silhouette software has a trace feature, but unless the jpegs are monochrome images with solid edges, you will have a lot of manual work to do to make it cuttable.
Yes, but it's VERY easy to use.

If you need any more help, JohnMavroidis, there's a group on Facebook that I also belong to that has been a big hel to me. https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/allthingsSILHOUETTE/

I am able to drag the image directly into the silhouette software! Great advice guys and what a big help!

However I have come across another hurdle,my JPSS transfer paper is actually 11 X17 and so I went ahead and set those dimensions on the silhouette software but the problem is that the cutting matt in the software goes only as big as 12X12! Any advide am I doing something wrong? Shoudnt the cutting matt be also 11X17 or bigger?

When was the last time you downloaded the updates? The 12x24 mat came out and the software now allows you to choose that size.
