Is it possible to screen print 490 signatures inside of the number 18 on a shirt and the signatures be legible? I have seen other threads discussing this and the max number seemed to be 200 or so. If it is possible, what is the best was to get the signatures down on paper to scan into my graphic software? Doesn't seem possible but maybe there is a way to do it tat I don't know about! Thanks ahead of time for your help!

I couldn't do the math for this with out straining in my head. So I just quickly repeated a signature in an 18 to get a rough idea.

The 18 is 10" wide and 7.5 tall. The signature is 3/4" wide and 1/4" tall. This seemed like a reasonable start.

With just a quick step and repeat and a few drag copies, I got 64 signatures in the 1. I didn't arrange them, didn't try the 8. Just wanted to put up a picture for folks to eyeball. But I think you can tell 490 of them is going to be hard.

Scanning and cleaning up 490 pieces of paper is going to take hours if not a few days. Maybe if everybody could send you a file of their signature, using a stylus and their smart phone or something, it would be much more feasible.

IF it's going to be signatures, I would print out the number 18 at the size it would be printed at, tape a sheet of vellum or something similar on top & give it to the customer to have everybody sign it. Get it back, un-tape the top sheet, scan it and drop it into the number. Quickest way to do it. Scanning each signature & resizing is in no way practical unless the customer is paying you for 15+ hours of art time (which I'm sure their not!)

I don't think you can. I am doing this for our local high school senior class (240) and using a 18 that is 11" x 15" at about 75-100 signatures it is full.
Some are going to write small and some will write big (their seniors and don't have to follow directions) which affect the number of names that will fit.
I had to go back and add the word twenty above the 18 at 2" x 11" to hopefully get the rest of the names.
