you need to replace the small fan on the mother board. It is a F2510AK-05XCV Epson part #2033895. Or get one from the local electronics shop. I am in Australia & it cost $33 delivered to my door.
Take off the roll feed & other stuff on the back of the printer. Undo the screws that let the main board be slid out.
Don't disconnect any of the ribbons because you don't have to ....."cause if you do your'e going to have to reset all sorts of stuff & you don't want to go there.
Undo the 9 screws that secure the mother board & then undo the 2 screws that hold the little fan on to the heat sync. replace it with the new fan & put it all back together again & Bob's your Uncle.....Good as new. It worked for me. The local Epson repair shop told me 000100b meant it was totally rigamortus, cactus, poo poo......& a new printer would cost me $3000. They lie like pigs in s**t. Good luck. Dont be afraid to attack the back of the machine. It's all pretty strait forward when you get to it. If I can do it anyone can

Clean the head cables and connectors on the main
board. I have fixed this error at least 100 times.
Good post David. Cleaning has gotta be the line of attack. I did all the cleaning bit but had to resort to replacing one of the ribbon cables to fix my fault.

replace the little fan on the mother board & all your problems will be solved. The fan is called a PR7600,DC FAN SET Epson part#2033895. Don't be afraid to do this as it is not hard. Just don't detach any of the ribbons when you do it. If you are using it to output transparencies. Use the standard Epson Photo black ink it is better than the inks made for the film (dye/pigment based I can never remember which is which) but the epson ink is fine. I have been outputting transparencies for years for printing CMYK water colour Paintings of fish & they are supurb. Subtle tones in blue sky etc are all there.

Whatever.......... I had all sorts of problems & finally 0001001B where nothing would work. An ex Epson tech told me to replace the fan which I did & ALL The errors have dissappeared (or however you spell it ) so maybe just giving everything .....cables, chips....everything a bit of a wiggle & a good blow out of the whole system with air is all that is required.
I still run all my transparencies through a 7 year old G5 tower that responds well to a bit of maintainance & still running like a dream on OS9 ( once I found the magic formula for the perfect CMYK transparency output) I have not changed it. It took years to get it perfect

I replaced one of the ribbon cables on my 4880 and it fixed the problem. This seems to infer that replacing the little fan wouldn't have!
Can you please tell me which ribbon cable? I checked the fan and its spinning so I am guessing it's a ribbon.

Or even if the fan is spinning, I would have to change it?

Hi,

I'm sorry. I use Polyprint. I saw this thread related to my error and I gave it a try. After all, they're all Epson.

I wish I would have this speed in replies with them :D

Could you anyway give me some advices? I replaced the head with an old one I had and I still got the same issue. I also cleaned the 0 and 00 ribbons. Fan is spinning. Dunno what to to next.
