If the poster artwork is truly in the public domain, then it could be possible. But as Brian mentioned, be careful of what posters you choose. There are plenty of posters on that site that are definitely not public domain. In addition to copyright issues, you should check to see if any of the movie titles are registered trademarks. And you should look into the specific use of the actors, actresses and characters that are featured in the posters. So plan on doing plenty of research and perhaps consult a local IP attorney.

Copyright law is pretty twisted. The rules are different depending on whether the art was published at all, and whether it was published before or after 1923.

If it was published before 1923, then it is in the public domain. If it was published in 1923 or later, or has not yet been published, then there are five other ways to slice it, but it is probably not in the public domain.

Wait... you are in the UK? The specifics of your laws would be different, and may very well be more liberal than USA copyright laws, from what I remember working with an office in the UK. Google "UK Copyright Law" and see what turns up. I'm sure it is quite different than it is in the USA.
