Selecting a street wear brand name

8589 Views 13 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  SunEmbroidery
Iv been trying to think of a one-two word brand new that fits nice with the life style scene. A name that will represent streetwear clothing well.

Examples are:

Supreme
Classy
Deny
Nifty
DGK
Fancy

These one words are a lot more competitive but I was hoping I could get some feedback or ideas and maybe I can put something together. All suggestions are appreciated!

You keep posing the same question. But you really need to ask people within your actual target audience. Most members here are not going to be into the street wear niche. And the ones that are, probably have their own street wear brands. So they are your competitors and may not be so quick to help you out with a great brand name.

In my opinion, you need to stop focusing on "names." You need to start designing your graphics, styles and marketing. Think about your target audience. How will you sell to them? Where will you sell to them? How will you market your brand so that potential customers can learn who you are and where to find your products? Once you get solid answers and develop a style for your brand, the great name will find you.

With all due respect, these posts seem to be self-promoting. Is there a disclaimer or specific reason for these to be allowed on the forum? Just sayin'.

if your already asking questions at the beginning are you sure you wanna go this route? the brand nowadays is basically inventing/art/cutNsew. the brands you listed made it during the t-shirt boom. that is why all of them got into the sublimation and cutNsew now. if you are going to compete against them get ready to learn. also learn to get rid of the middleman just so you can put food on the table. my two cents ~
I agree with Tim here. Don't sweat the name as much as your graphics, business plan, etc. Browse already existing/successful clothing line names and you will find that if you just read the name... they're often made up words or inside jokes or words that have absolutely nothing to do with apparel. Point is if you make quality stuff, target the right audience, build a fanbase etc... the name could be anything and you will be successful. Good luck! :)

I came up with Dizzy Fish. Or Dizzy Clothing.
DizzyClothing.com / DizzyCo.com

Exactly!;)

I've been saying this for years!

That's really the key, and in all honesty, the hard part. But, if you can properly identify your target market, and properly market to them, success will come.

The problem is people don't take the time to learn what it means to market properly. You need to study how and why your target market likes and buys what they do. Then give them exactly what they want, exactly the way they want it.

So, to the OP I would say find a name you like, and learn to market to your target audience. Then you'll see how little the name actually matters.
The clothing lines I look after they are big because of the owners. They are either on MTV, a music artist or something like that. They got famous by writing music and of course every fan will buy their product if they came out with a line.

So when I print my products, Im going to start sponsoring music artists who wear my stuff at shows/concerts. I think that could be a good strategy.

How does Groozy.com sound? Slang for crazy/groovy
are you doing the printing yourself? I'm doing pretty much exactly what you're going to do I go to shows and give bands my shirts and hats and take pictures with them, since ive played in a band myself ive gotten in with some promoters who helped me sponsor shows. I'd pay part of the booking fees in exchange to have my brand featured on all the posters/tickets/flyers it's good visibility just make sure you're constantly moving around shaking hands is the only way! you may be my competition but i wish you all the best!

Thank yo sir! Nice advice!
You are right these brands name are very common. So, I came up with the brand FORGED EMPEROR Streetwear clothing USA, NZ and UK with world wide shipping.
I like the one name idea partly because I gives you lots of room to present it visually in a logo. When deciding on a name I'd have to consider how it would look graphically. The look - font, size, colors - all make up a great, memorable logo that speaks to a particular buyer.
