I have used a mousepad for elevating the print area. It has worked really well for me when printing above a pocket or when printing polo shirts.
Screenprinting hooded sweatshirts

Having issues screenprinting hooded sweatshirts on a manual press. I'm using a 12 oz champion hoodie and the hood and pocked are effecting the screen height. I was going to try to put a piece of cardboard under the area to be printed so it would lift up closer to the screen. Any suggestions.

Are you printing on the chest? Maybe a smaller platen where the hood and pocket hang off the side?
